Horsing Around
Horse lessons really are like a weekly field trip for us. While I am not sure that we are meant for the country life, we all enjoy hanging out at the stables. I am constantly surprised at how much there is to learn- from how to form the right knot for the right job to which tool to use for which grooming purpose, there is so much detail to learn and remember. And, of course, the safety procedures that probably seem second nature to those who are around horses regularly. It was quite a feat for the younger two boys just to learn to keep attentive to what they are doing at all times.
Yep. Scooping the poop is all part of the deal!
He's not really all that cheerful about it, but, for some reason,
was hamming for the camera.
A job well done!
While the younger two boys were scooping, Paul was riding.
Taking shoes off got a response in a previous post-
these are the shoes.
The boys do all of the pre and post ride grooming.
This is tough on the horse the younger two ride-
she is arthritic and does not love to lift her hooves.
The boys love this sweet horse.
My suburb born and raised boys enjoy the barn atmosphere.
And hanging out with the horses.

My daughter takes horse riding lessons and loves it but my son wasn't so keen on the horse:). Do you own these horses? I always dreamed of owning horses but probably not in my futures any time soon. So glad you boys help with even the dirty work, I am afraid my daughter is very squeamish around poo:( thanks for linking up to the Field trip hop.
ReplyDeleteso much to learn from horse riding lessons, I love how the focus is on the entire animal, not just riding it! I did some horse lessons before we had kids when my DH was in Iraq...it was enjoyable, but so time consuming! Thanks for linking up at FTF!
