Wrapping Up The Week of February 9-13
Successes-
Did not let the house fall apart- we did what I call "hold the line". You know, no progress was made, but we did not backslide.
Not Successes-
I am bound and determined that things shall move forward around here. Not so much this week. On to next week!!
Day by Day:
Monday:
We host Geometry class here each week (taught by my daughter- you can look her business up at "Ralston Tutoring"). Paul, my 16 year old, and 3 additional homeschool students meet here each week to muddle through Geometry. Actually, they are all doing very well!
We also host a general math class of just 2 students including my son, Mark, after Geometry.
During this time, at least 2 of my daughter's kids hang out while their mom is teaching- occasionally all 4 of them are here.
This is James from his last production- can you guess who he played? ;) He is holding the sign because we took the picture to send a thank you to the person who helped us put together the costume.

These are "Monday" pictures- not all from this Monday,
but I like to give a visual. :)
Tuesday:
This is "Theater Fun" day. I head out with James at 9 o'clock to pick up my 2 nieces and my 2 nephews to go to theater class. Mark often comes as well- he is the "lighting guy" for the plays. This semester's production is "Peter Pan". James is Smee! How fun is that going to be?
Wednesday:
We meet with our homeschool group for noon mass and then play time. There is also a volleyball class at this time. Our group is blessed to have a mom who is passionate about the sport of volleyball who is willing to give a few hours each week to teaching the whole group. I think she has been doing this for about 8 years or so. This year, she has no students of her own (her 2 girls have graduated!) so she is truly giving herself to these kids.
Thursday:
We babysit for this adorable little guy-
And, of course, there are ortho appointments, story time at the library, dogs to get to the vet (which I forgot!)...
Friday:
We have our Spanish/Art co-op that I have returned to hosting after a two year break. We are hoping to add a bit of science in next week as well.
Paul, 16, takes a Spanish class elsewhere on Fridays. I was able to hand off my responsibilities around here and drive a large group from his class to a Mexican restaurant where the students got to practice their Spanish speaking skills.
This is also "teen night" for our homeschool group where one family opens their doors and kids flood in from 7-10 p.m. because, you know, we don't want to have those "unsocialized" kids! :)
The Main Adjustment Around Here Is:
Volleyball. For the second year, Paul is playing volleyball for a local high school that has an Independent Study Program. This means a lot of driving and a bit more school paper work as Paul has to meet with an on-campus teacher once week to show his progress. Totally worth it! But still a lot to add to an already packed schedule.
Hoping to check back in with some answers to questions I have received about homeschooling high school, to share some organization projects, and just do some general blabbing.

I am enjoying catching up with you over their in CA!
