Confessions of an Organization Junkie ;)
I love to organize- that does not mean that I am organized. I just love the idea. And, I love nifty little boxes, crates, files... Give me a Storables Store over Macy's any day of the week!!
Anyway, I live in a house that is less than 1000 sq. ft. My idea of decor is more of a Better Shelves and Boxes theme than Better Homes and Gardens any day of the week. I have no pride when it comes to finding places to put things.
I thought I'd try (just try- I tend to be flop at follow through) to post one of my organizational tools, gadgets or ideas each week. I may run out of ideas or I may forget to post, but I am going to try.
This week I thought I'd share our Rain Gutter Shelves. Does everyone have those already? Years ago, when we installed them, my then preteen daughter walked in and gasped, "you've turned our room in to a library!". She was truly horrified. I was please as punch.
It is hard to tell from the pic, but this area leading in to the kids' room was dead space. The book shelves make it very useful!
While she was not super happy with the whole gutter idea, my dd did manage to display her timelines that she made years ago across the top.
She also made some fun scrapbook pages to liven up the space- the top shelves are mounted on cork, so she just pins them up.
This space (below) behind the kid's bedroom door (every little space must have a use!:)), was not being used for anything, so when I spied these pantry basket shelves, I knew they would be perfect for displaying even more books!!

ha ha, I am just like you. I LOVE the idea of organization, but I am no where near organized! I love the gutter shelves. Our last home was 1100 sq feet, so I know just what you mean about living in small spaces - every space counts! I really like the pantry basket shelves too !
ReplyDeleteLooking good! I need to get our gutter shelves back up.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the pantry baskets behind the door! Brillant! You have really great ideas!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, I love this! I have been wanting to try the gutter things for a long time, now you have given me some inspiration. The pantry baskets are another good idea, I might use them on the back of my own bedroom door!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to figure out the best placement for rain gutter bookshelves in our house but never thought about using the pantry organizer thing. Great idea!
