Another Week::Week in Review
Could a whole week possibly have passed already? That truly takes my breath away.
Monday: Theme for Monday was St. Nicholas. We had cousins over to learn about this man who really did live, play some games based on the same theme, watch some movies (also about St. Nick), and create some fun crafts.
Tuesday: Tuesday was a special day. We spent the whole with Grandma. Sadly, we have no pictures. We went to a spectacular "Creche Exhibit" with over 1500 creches from 500 different countries. There are no words to describe how magical it was to walk around the beautifully displayed creches (often set in materials native to the country the creche is from) while listening to the harp play Christmas music. Even my wild and crazy boys were enthralled. But, pictures are not allowed.This is just my nativity- who wants a post with no pictures?
Wednesday: Was a special feast day in our church, so we spent a good portion of the day reading about that and making crafts to go with that celebration.
Thursday: Co op day! I am finally doing a post on our co op and the geography curriculum that we have been using, so I won't say too much. We are just done with our first book, Paddle-to-the-Sea!
Friday: I love this day- it comes just once a year. It is fun and rewarding, but it is exhausting. The homeschool teen group that my dd participates in does fundraising throughout the fall to earn money to purchase food and gifts for families during the holidays. This year (with the help of one very generous supporter), the teens were able to shop for over 20 children and their families. We start the day at Walmart around 10 a.m. and finish up at our church with wrapping the presents. Each year, I continue to be astounded by the teen's enthusiasm and commitment to this project. They are a great bunch of kids. All in all, it is not a bad way to spend the day.

Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers (does anyone else just love writing that name?:)) also has its link up and running.

Sounds like a fantastic week!! I can imagine viewing all the creches were gorgeous, plus you were able to spend the day with Grandma. Friday does sound like a great day and how awesome that 20 families now will have fun and much needed presents! Thanks for linking up and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy and fun week. We've been busy traveling so not much of the 3Rs happening at our house.
