Hi And Happy Fourth of July!

From this Week:

BEACH DAY:

Paddle boarding again! This time we had out of town company and they (Paul and his cousin Julia) treated her to a tour of the ocean. :)

Baby B's (not such a baby anymore!) favorite thing to do on the beach is read. (with cousin Marky of course)

And sleep- this time on me (auntie Laurie)

WILDLIFE:

Mark caught the first toad of the season. Now they are everywhere. We need be careful where we walk at night.

THE FOURTH:

And happy fourth of July!!

I took very few pictures, but this one is after some neighbors started shooting off fireworks. Grandpa's lap was quickly called upon as a safe zone.

We had a very quiet fourth. No parades, no decorations, or special food. We knew we needed a break, and a forced day off (no one wants a contractor working on their house on the 4th of July :)) was just the opportunity we needed.

So, we went to mass, ate a yummy breakfast, and rested all day long. Later in that evening, two of our daughters and their families joined us for.... Buca di Beppo. Yup. We got take out.

And yet, we had a lovely and blessed day being thankful for this wonderful country of ours.

I am, however, already pinning (on Pinterest) ideas for next year's 4th of July! ;)

Just adding this picture in...

because it took me forever to get one where you can actually see the water. All of my pictures look like the kids are just running around the yard in their swim trunks (or swim diaper as the case may be). This is our rain curtain. Mark dreamed it up. Frank and the boys built it.

  3. Hi Laurie! I'm slowly making my way around to catch up:) Sounds like a lovely 4th to me...Simple is all we need sometimes (MOST) of the time! You went to Mass and that's the best thing you can do:) We have not made it over to Santa Cruz this summer:( Not sure if we will but we have missed going. The rhythm of your lovely extended family always makes me smile!
