Muffin Tin Lunches
I came across this idea (that everyone else in blogland already knew about!) at the beginning of last school year and the boys (especially my youngest two) love it!
Yes, this seems more like a preschool idea, but I have found it to be enormously helpful. With homeschooling there are no days off of lunch prep- no hot lunch option.
And, at my best, I am not always super enthusiastic about food prep. This adds a twist that encourages me take a bit more time and care in making lunch.

Muffin Tin Lunches FAQ
We don't follow the theme for the week at my boys' ages, but I might have to give it a try with my grandkids. :)

We use divided trays (the kind you buy from the dollar store) that are decorated for the season or just plain muffin tins. It makes a fun meal. I tend to be more thoughtful on the days I do "muffin tin" lunches, and James and Mark think that this lunch "was the best ever!".
For me, the best part of the lunch this day was when Paul piped up with "hey, somebody should've told Monk about this idea!".

This is a great idea! My lunches are really never too inspiring...I bought some divided containers a little while ago and I am thinking about making lunch right after breakfast and sticking the containers in the fridge until lunch. That way I can clean up breakfast and lunch at the same time, in theory anyway!!
