Yearbooks

My apologies for another very long post- but it is mostly pictures this time! :)

During my schoolroom organizational efforts, I came across some "yearbooks" that my children had made years ago. I had not thought that much about it when they made them, but after looking through them now, I thought- "Wow!! Those are pretty cool!". (I wish we had kept it up!) You could do some pretty high tech stuff these days, but I really like these yearbooks created by the kids. So, here some examples of their very "down home" yearbooks.

Erin's 5th grade yearbook cover page:
A field trip page:
A service project page: Some page protectors stuffed with memorabilia:
Erin started this memory page- it is a "rough draft" and the "final draft" was in progress in the back pocket of her notebook. I think this is perfectly adorable as is. :) Paul's K cover page:
A few of Paul's favorite Kinder drawings were in the back of his yearbook:
A performance review from Paul's 2ND grade yearbook:
A field trip page from Mark's Kinder year:

Today, we took some pictures and started on 2010/2011 yearbooks for all three of the boys!

James' cover page (in progress) from this year's yearbook:These are very low tech. Some page protectors, card stock, forms (if you want them), colored paper, tape rollers, scissors, pictures, and the student is set to work. :)

I keep the binder, filled with empty page protectors, sitting on an easy to reach shelf. When we did these before, whenever we came home with any sort of memorabilia (postcards, play programs, certificates), it was put straight in to a page protector. The student can always go back and showcase the item, but it will be much easier if it is right there in the notebook.

Most of the original forms shown came from the Booklet Making Book from Homeschool Oasis.

In the interest of space and time, I won't post any more pages, but here are some other layouts:
course descriptions from cooking and science courses w/pics, President's Fitness certificate, memorabilia collage, favorite writing from the year, Valentine party page w/pocket for cards, old student body cards, pictures of projects that were too big to save...

  1. This is a great idea!! I love low tech too :) I had my kids to a first day of school survey, this would be a great thing to start the yearbook, thanks for posting.
