Paul's Dog Jack
After reading the particulars about the NOBH theme (homeless animals) the month of August, I thought it would be fun to hear from Paul, who adopted his dog from a shelter, about his experience.
Tell me a little bit about your dog, Jack.
Jack is a total and complete crazy, funny, kinda lunatic dog. He is fun.
Jack came from a testing place and he basically lived in a cage. That is all they told us about him before he came to live with us. When he first got here he did not know what grass was and did not get the whole step thing. He would fall off steps or run straight in to the porch steps. When he wanted to go to the far side of the yard, he would walk across the border around the grass so he did not have to touch it. He basically didn't know how to be a dog.
I think he was treated very nicely where he was, but I don't think he was treated like a dog should be treated. I don't think they walked him or anything.
Why did you want to adopt a dog?
I really just wanted a dog. I saved my money for a year and a half. (Paul 9 when he started saving)
Do you think it was good to adopt him from the Humane Society?
I think it was because we had the necessary things for Jack- a dog to teach him how to be a dog and people who around to keep an eye on him most of the time because we homeschool. They picked a good fit us and for Jack. All in all I think it was just a good thing to do.

How is Jack special?
He is special because he has such a funny and weird personality. He will lay on his back on his bed with all four paws in the air and his tongue out, and he will sleep like that. He is kind of a baby- he likes to be held like a baby. He is not aggresive at all. He is like, "whatever". My nephew can climb all over him and he doesn't care.
I am linking to No Ordinary Blog Hop for August. Write and link a post about your local animal shelter and you will be entered in a giveaway- $50 will be given to a local animal shelter on behalf of the winner.

How wonderful that you took this lovely dog in your home. How sad he was used for testing but I am so glad you found him and took him in so now he will live as a dog should. What a wonderful story and thank you so much for linking up to the NOBH
ReplyDeleteWell Jack sure has a fascinating story to tell. Imagine a dog not knowing about grass or steps! He is one happy hound in your house!
