As Long As We Are Talking About Reading...
Our read aloud for the month of April (and probably May too) is:
I have attempted to read this book before. Several times. My oldest daughters were caught up in the Lord of the Rings fervor that accompanied the making of the movies. They were determined to read the books before the movies came out. I tried and tried to read them, but gave up each time. Just not my thing I guess. Except that I was looking for a read aloud that would appeal to my boys, especially my 13yo (almost 14!). I have overcome my aversion and am enjoying it almost as much as the boys. And the boys love it!
Good for you to try again. I last tried reading this book when the first movie came out, I last about 50 pages before quitting. Right now I am trying to get my daughter to read the Hobbit before the movie comes out in Dec. glad you are able to enjoy it this time around, I will have to try again too:)
ReplyDeleteI've not read the books, and not seen any of the movies, but one of these days, I'd like to try the books. (I always love reading of books more than watching movies, though I hear the movies were very good). (I could not get through The Hobbitt so wonder if I'd be able to get through the L.O.T.R. series.
