Thankful For...
I am thankful that Erin 19yo and Paul 14yo (our two oldest at home) have the opportunity to do a little road tripping together. These two decided to save their money for the past few months and take an adventure together. They have wandered down CA and landed in the happiest place on Earth.
Aren't they cute?!!!!
While I miss them (like really, really miss them!!), I am thankful for time with just our two youngest boys. Mark (12yo) and James (9yo) have enjoyed the relaxed pace and "younger kid" mode around here. They rotate between playing Legos, organizing their monster truck hot wheels, drawing, making Christmas wish lists, and just goofing around together.
Oh, and walking!! For the first time ever (since we started mommy boot camp 6 + weeks ago) my boys did not accuse me of trying to kill them by walking!! Could we be over the hump?!
And, they are totally getting in to the "Eat This, Not That" mode! Yes, they actually read the books and have quite the vast knowledge of the nutritional attributes (or lack thereof) of many foods.
These are actual pictures I sniped of them reading at the breakfast table.
As long as I am being thankful for things... I am thankful for some nice outdoor time. In addition to our daily walks, we have managed to get out for some fresh air as a family a few times.
Pausing for a photo while on our Thanksgiving day hike.
We headed out this weekend for a rainy day hike.
Spotted- ducks, coots, geese, and this Snowy Egret.
We don't see a ton of fall foliage around here, but I find it stunning when we do.
Right before the rain really picked up. Thankfully we were on a paved road hike (mostly- Mark did have a slip in the mud)
And, of course, I am thankful for time with these little people (grandchildren)!-
We made a turkey craft!
This little guy doesn't hold still for long enough to get a clear photo most of the time! He loves watching the tortoises though.
Our youngest grand-baby turned 1! Fortunately, he is willing to share his new toy with his big brother. :)

How fun for your older two to be able to go off together on an adventure! Good work on the mommy boot camp and learning about making healthy choices together. That's not always easy :) Hope you have a wonderful Advent!
ReplyDeleteHe is one??!! Time is flying way too quickly! The places you go on your walks are so beautiful, Laurie. I can imagine just filling my heart and mind and soul with all of God's beauty. So refreshing spiritually! I think the older two and their trip...what a fantastic idea! David told me about how his oldest brother use to take him for two weeks across country each summer. What great memories! May you have a peaceful and joy-filled Advent!
ReplyDeleteAmazing you two oldest went off on a road trip together, I love that, I hope one day my two will stop fighting long enough to do something like that;). Awesome family pictures you have so much to be thankful for.
