About That Boys' Day Out...
All were impressed by this WWII submarine, the USS Pampanito. (By clicking on that link, you can take a virtual tour and listen to a podcast.)
Some interesting facts- there were not enough beds for the whole crew on the submarine. As part of the crew was always on duty, bunks were shared. Extra food supplies were stored in the shower area. Showers were infrequent, so the stored supplies were gone by the time the showers were needed. I believe that my boys said showers consisted of 1 gallon of water. Not a luxury cruise for sure!!
Musee Mecanique! More than just an arcade, this family owned business is a stroll back in time. The boys (big and little) had a great time here! There is a fun little video on the arcade link.
Then back to the car for a "trunk picnic" (middle picture). In true San Francisco style, they were serenaded during their meal by a one man band that was apparently very impressive (no picture of musician).

On to the Cable Car Museum and the boys first cable car ride ever! They look like pros to me!
Frank was very impressed with the museum. It was free (always nice as just parking can break the bank in the city). And, I am told, even if they did charge, it would have been worth it.

And some views. I believe that the top row is Fort Mason or near it. The windy road on the right and left middle row is Lombard Street. The views and blurry picture of the boys (the only one taken of them here) are take at Coit Tower.
The boys had a great time the other day watching the movie, "What's Up Doc". It has lots of classic SF locations that they recognized!
So that's the boys' day out!!

Isn't Lombard street crazy impressive. We rode the cable car but I didn't know about the cable car museum. My favorite was the Ghiradelli chocolate tour:) Looks like your boys had a great day out, hope you were able to rest and enjoy some quiet time:)
