Pat Me On The Back!
I am almost done!! With the school room that is.
The red background photos are **not** the present day school room, but from when I still had a preschooler or two! In the switch from Kodak to Shutterfly, I found a "school room" album. I used to do weird things like staying up way too late organizing and then send my sister pictures of the finished product (I wanted her to see the full splendor before the kids got to it!).
Oh! The memories! One of our favorite "rows" from Five in a Row, "The Pumpkin Runner". And those colorful baskets that have since blessed another family. Just peeking over the bottom of the lower left picture is a basket of audio books that I kept in our school room for James, who was the preschooler at the time.
These were the preschool activity bins that I put together. You can see in the first collage that there is a whole row of baskets along the top shelf. I am in the process of purging what's left of these things- some of them are going to my daughter for her homeschool adventures. Others are just going to have to go the local thrift shop.
And Ta Da! Today's Version!
I showed these bins before. They are done! All labeled and ready- General Resources, Colonization, Revolution, Civil War, Westward, and 20th Century. Makes me happy. :)
I did not realize what a treasure was in the shopping bag my friend handed me a few weeks ago until today. As I was putting things away, I opened the bag to discover that she is loaning me her Kieth and Rusty McNeil historical songs (with narration)! I can't wait to use them! And I also unearthed some old "your story hour" tapes from my adult daughters' homeschooled days.
Desk cleaned and ready! I kept our Barton stuff up all summer and when I took it down (thinking we'd just pull it out to use it), I noticed that "getting to reading" was difficult. I have rearranged the desk so we can still do our sessions, but most of the desk is available to work on.
Drawers- my favorite. The best thing about them is that they usually stay neat for a while!
Hoping that sharing my success will encourage me to finish!

I am drooling over your homeschool room!! I'm currently working on ours but in a much smaller space with far fewer bins and drawers! We have two grown, married sons and two still at home who are much younger. You've inspired me to get mine done!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour room looks great!! Those crayons would stay like that for about .02 seconds in my house, enjoy :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Love the clean lines and the white! Blessings to your teaching this year!
ReplyDeleteSuch awesomeness! Yes, you certainly deserve a pat on the back:) Isn't it great to look back at previous ways we organized things. It certainly helps on the days when things are a mess and we are hard on ourselves! Great job and wishing you many blessings as you kick off your school year.
