Staycation Days:
Some time with just hubby and me:
I seriously dislike this picture of us, but we had the most wonderful dining experience here. It is a little place tucked in next to a river. After dinner you can take the tram back up, or do like we did- take a magical walk through the gardens.
We also spent some time walking along the beachfront. (I like this picture of us much better!)
This was the cold before the heatwave!
Monday we spent some nice family time:
We started at this super cool surfer's museum/lighthouse.
We visited beautiful "St. Joseph of the Redeemer" church. This little shrine of St. Joseph is for all pre-born babies- especially those lost to miscarriage and abortion. It is very moving.
There is always silliness.
We ended the day at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
Tuesday dawned cold and breezy, but the kids took to the ocean anyway:
Paul and Erin had an hour or so in the ocean by themselves.
Soon enough, their brothers wanted in on the action.
Wednesday was spent with some cousins and friends:
The paddle boards were so popular that the kids gave them another go! We spent the day paddling, boogie boarding, and then listening to a live concert on the beach. Not a bad way to spend the day!
And then Thursday:
We had planned an at home day, but good weather brought us back to the beach. An added incentive was that our daughter, her husband, and her kiddos were going to be there.
Friday:
The kids saw Monster's University at the theater with dad. James loved it. Frank thought it was odd that a kids movie was set in a college dorm. Not sure he loved it all that much.

What a fantastic staycation.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the birth of another grandchild!!!! How wonderfully blessed you are!!! I love that second picture of you and your husband. You look as though you were really enjoying one another's company. And that shrine...oh that was so special to see on your blog. I do wish we had one like that here. My throat tightened a little bit, but it was good to see and to know it is out there. Lovely pictures all around! The paddle boarding looks like so much fun and the kids make it look easy.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new grandson! Your trip is so inspiring!
