Another Week::August 17, 2012
In my life this week...
Some sweet time with my grandson, Little Man Cub, and his Uncle James.
Our geese are back. I am not in the know about such things, but the neighbors consider these resident geese a nuisance and, as such, have gotten permission to "harass" them.
This worked for a while, but they are back. I kind of like them.
With her Lego crazy uncles, it figures that this little girl would be a fan too! And a fan of playing with Uncle Marky.
In our homeschool this week...
My boys have the wonderful opportunity to participate in a public speaking class with about 10 other homeschool students. They went three days this and will go four days next week. They are surprisingly in to it.
Mark has his big speech planned on Akita dogs, James is talking about his grandpa, and Paul is doing a team speech on tourist attractions in San Francisco. Should be interesting. The parents are invited to watch the kids next Friday.
Places we're going and people we're seeing...
Our city sponsors weekly movies in a parking lot right in the middle of downtown! Pretty fun, I have to say.
Went to see my fabulous niece and nephews in "A Year With Frog and Toad". In the picture on the left, they are the three actors to the right of the stage (I think that is called stage left).
My favorite thing this week was...
Spending some time with my big boy, Paul. He was Uncle Extraordinaire to his niece and nephew for the day. Mark and James usually join me on our weekly outing (Paul has work), but today they couldn't, so Paul was my helper. And boy does he help!! And he is just plain nice to have around.
Another favorite- D. is petting the Blue Tongued Skink in the top picture. A few visits ago, she pet a hissing cockroach!! That is one adventurous 2 yo.
Things I am working on...
I am saying good-bye to some old projects. That is tough. It is so hard when each project has memories that go with. I am taking pictures and pitching!!
I am super happy with my blue bins that I am re-purposing for our American history study. Each category (colonies, Revolutionary war,...) has its own bin. It has helped me as I gather the things that I have saved from my older kids plus some really cool stuff that was passed to me by other generous homeschoolers.
My desk, which has been set up this summer as our "reading lesson spot", is cleared and cleaned. I know it will only stay that way for a few minutes, but I do love a clear desk!
The shelves are getting an overhaul- as James turned nine this year, it seems a lot of our games and activities are being aged out of. And so more purging begins.

I'm reading...
I just love this book! I am rereading it for probably the 4th or 5th time since purchasing it over ten years ago. It helps keep me focused!
My daughter, Erin. She turned nineteen this week! And finishes up her trade school next week. Then she has to take the state board cosmetology exam. She is anxious about the upcoming changes, but excited to be getting out in to the world.
I'm praying for...
Erin and her friends as they all make preparations to go back to/start college, and are feeling the pangs of change.
No collage for this one, so I'll share here. Holding on tight as grandma (that's me) yells to be careful with that baby!!

What a sweet picture with that baby -- I would have been yelling "hold on tight!", too!
ReplyDeleteThe public speaking class sounds like a great opportunity!
Thanks for linking with Collage Friday!
I just love all of your out-and-about photos and the joyful fun the boys have with your extended family. What a blessing:) Happy Birthday to your Erin and congrats as she finishes up her schooling! My school room is a work in progress this year, too. I'm not as stressed out about it for some reason but still plugging away as we make some changes. God bless your week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI love the CM Companion and I am sure you will, too. Love seeing all your family from Erin to the little one.
ReplyDeleteI love all your photos and memories from the week, especially the last one. The expression on his face is too cute. Have a wonderful week!
