Take Care of Yourself!

I have a confession to make (one of a few I have made on this blog). I am a procrastinator. There is one place where this fault has shown through at its worst- taking care of my health. I have sort of a double whammy here- I really, really, really detest going to doctors of any sort (for myself) plus being a procrastinator.

So, if you are the type of person that makes your annual exam appointments a year in advance and remembers to show up, this post is of no use to you! Be thankful. If you are like me, I am hoping that this post might motivate you!

Fortunately for me, while dragging my feet cost me, it is only in pride and a bit of pain. Being the procrastinator that I am, I missed a follow up appointment for a minor skin cancer and then just did not go back to the doctor. So, instead of 20 minutes in the doctor and a little boo-boo on my cheek, I had a whole day in the doctor's office, and a bandaged, bruised, and sore face to deal with this week.

This is not the worse thing that could happen, but I am busily making appointments for other things that I have not taken care of in years. I know that money and insurance can be problems for many, but, when at all possible, it is going to cost less in health, time, and money to take care of it ASAP.

Maybe I am one of a very few (I hope so!) that puts these types of things off, but my encouragement this week is to take care of youself! Really, it is taking care of your kids too.

I think this counts as Helpful Homeschool Hint- it is not directly involved with homeschooling, but the teacher's health is pretty important to the whole process of keeping things running around the schoolroom.

  1. Your health is priceless. I am so sorry that you have had to endure that. Praying it heals quickly, Lori!

I know what you mean about procrastinating. Absolutely spot on about taking care of the problem now in order to cut back in expense or further health issues in the future.

Sending hugs and prayers your way. Take care! You are so much more than a homeschool mom.
