California History Weekend::Sutter's Fort
After a long day at the Gold Rush Live on Saturday, we settled down at a friend's campsite for dinner. They were staying right on the American River, so we got our first up close look at it! After a hot day being on our feet it felt so good to soak them in the cool water.

Love the new blog look, Laurie! It has such a peaceful reflection:) That's funny how you ended up at Sutter's Fort! We visited a few years ago but due back for another visit...we really enjoyed it. Aren't we blessed with so many great historical sites?
ReplyDeleteI nominated you for the versatile blogger award http://chestnutgroveacademy.blogspot.com/2011/10/versatile-blogger-award.html#.TqRP_pviGU-
ReplyDeleteI love history!!! What a great field trip!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I would love to go there! Went past it once on a train and the conductor told us that we were passing it, but that is as close as I have ever gotten. Great field trip! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLoved the Sacramento field trip photos. Did you know I used to live IN Old Sacramento? And my old parish, St Francis, is right across the street from Sutter's Fort. Next time, take a peek inside. It was built my Italian and German immigrants so it looks all European on the inside, but the outside is more California missionesque.
