Reading Plan 2012
I like having a plan- I don't always stick to it, but I like having it. I think of it like a road map. We might take some detours, but it helps us know where to go when we decide it is time to get back on track.
My 2012 Reading Plan:
I was super excited to find out about this "Booking It in 2012" reading challenge (through Jen's blog) at Life as Mom. I have always wanted to join a book club- attending one is a whole 'nother matter! I am in. :)
A Year's Illustrated Book Study for the Family.
I am going to work off of this list for picture book reads. This is the most amazing list- really! We read most of the books on it over a few year period of time, but the boys were much younger then. It will be interesting to see which titles they remember. Many of the selections are interesting for older children (6+) as well- don't let it being a picture book list fool you.
I don't know that I am going to join an official picture book challenge this year (like 2011), but I am working on setting a goal and will probably track our reading via this blog.
I *think* my self-imposed challenge is going to be 10 picture books per month. Also that we willtry to document our chapter book reads- that fizzled out pretty quickly last year, but I hope to make another go at it.

ReplyDeleteThe Year's Illustrated Book Study looks like an awesome resource, thanks for sharing!! I will be printing it off for sure. Sometimes its fun to just read a good book without feeling like you need to plan an activity to go with it or it serves some other purpose besides being a really great book! A happiest New Year to you and yours!
