Tuesday:
First up, keeping with our "exploding things" theme...
The soda geyser experiment was on our list of things to do (or expode as the case may be), so it was a happy moment when I stumbled upon this nifty little kit on sale at the store. (it's the little things...)
Much concentration went into the preparations.
And… kablooey. This is the only picture I was able to take because the geyser got so big that I had to turn and run- plus I was too busy laughing. If you want to be educational about this you can read the "whys and wherefores" here.
Card games (or any games) are a must. This was #1 on James' wish list for this week.
A quick afternoon swim at the local pool. We have not gotten to swim much, so that is on my list for this month- take advantage of our pool membership!!
Thursday:
For one hour today an art teacher came to our house (how cool is that?!) to work with my boys and one of their friends. Each week (lessons will be once a week) one student will get to
choose a project for the lesson.
choose a project for the lesson.
This day it was James' turn and he wanted to draw this dog:
Friday:
Fun treats- Easy S'more Clusters! Nothing perks up a day like something fun to make (and eat!). This particular something is from a recipe that my mom cut out of the paper years ago to make for her classroom students (she was a TA in special education).
It quickly became a family favorite too.
Crumbled the graham crackers (we used honey graham).
Melted the chocolate. Mmmmmm
So delicious!!

I'm going to have to try the soda pop thing with the boys! We are making smores cupcakes tomorrow for Levi's b-day party :) Have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteOh, my, those S'mores look YUMMY! And easy too! The kids would love to make them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! We usually stay very close to the chicks while they're outside, but I noticed yesterday a crow or large blackbird circling around and squawking. The younger chicks are 3 weeks old so they're still small. I think we'll keep them outback under the cover of trees near the house for now! Thanks for the warning!
We tried the soda and mentos experiment but it didn't work as nicely as yours did:) Great art pictures:) Glad you are enjoying your summer/ and school. We school year round too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun week. Our hs group did the soda explosion with mentos one year. If I remember correctly, you drop a whole roll in as fast as you can and run...lol! Fun stuff!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff going on at your house! I posted a little thank you on my blog for those wonderful booklets. They made my whole week:D
ReplyDeleteThose soda geysers work so well!!! It's unbelievably how high up they shoot. Especially fun for boys!
ReplyDeleteI have to get my hands on one of those soda geysers! We were actually just talking about doing something like that! Glad I read this post. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and the Smores Clusters. Yeah, I was drooling while reading that. We'll make those this weekend. Yum!
