A Few Things We Are Using For School::2011-2012

I am super excited to be using Trail Guide to World Geography and Galloping the Globe. I am using both guides to stretch the curriculum across the ages of my three boys (13, almost 11, 8).

Draw * Write * Now is going to be a great supplement to our geography studies. I have "Animals of the World, Part 1" and plan to purchase Part 2 as well.

Our big investment of the year is this series, A Kid's Guide to Drawing the Presidents of the USA. My husband agreed, after viewing the single volume available at the library, that this would be a wise investment if my sister as well as a dear friend would agree to make use of them too! Done. Click on the link to learn more- Timberdoodle has plenty to say about it. I will surely give an update on our experience with these books.

A call out for Timberdoodle: The mail service misdirected my package (it was an error on the part of the post office) and as soon as it became apparent that my package was not being redirected to me, a new box of books was shipped out and arrived within days. Thank you Timberdoodle for your great customer service!

English For A Thoughtful Child is also on our list. We have started using it this summer (lightly), and it is a good fit for my boys! More about this one later.

Math It is another resource that I love and have pulled off of our storage shelves. I know it is pricey, but all 7 of my children have benefited from this game (more of an activity) plus at least one other student who we loaned it to. Math It allows the student to make quick work of fact mastery. My kids especially enjoy the math "tricks" that they learned using this.

  1. I look forward to seeing how you guys use Galloping the Globe, I'm sure you will do some fun things. I ordered the art program from How Great Thou Art, because you liked it so much. I think the boys are going to like it. The Presidents series sounds great too.

  2. I'm sure you'll enjoy the Presidents series! It's very flexible! Not only will you learn some great facts about the president and the history of the time AND draw some fun stuff, but it's easy to add in other books and videos! Have a great year!
