Read to Me Picture Book Challenge
I am excited to participate in this challenge. On my list of goals for this school year (2010-2011) is to do more with my 7yo. I was finding that I would refer to an outing, a book, or a movie assuming that my 7yo would know what I was talking about only to find out that he did not. Many of the "great reads" and other wonderful things our family has shared took place when he was much younger (or not born!). I am hoping that this picture book challenge will keep me accountable in fulfilling my goal in at least the reading department. I am looking foward to sharing many wonderful books with him in 2011 (of course, my older boys are welcome to join in too!).
These are the challenge levels:
Reading with a Child:
•“Planting” – Read 12 picture books with a child during the year.
•“Watering” – Read 36 picture books with a child during the year.
•“Feeding” – Read 72 picture books with a child during the year.
•“Growing” – Read 120 picture books with a child during the year.
•“Harvesting” – Read 200 picture books with a child during the year.
I am going to be ambitious and choose "Harvesting". That should be a doable goal considering that that James is my youngest child. I'll keep you posted.
You can read more about this and join in at There's a Book.

Oh, this looks like fun! The kids might be interested in keeping track of all the books we read, thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this. I joined a couple of reading challenges for myself this year but this will be a good way of helping me stay motivated about reading picture books with my son. Hopefully it will help me post more on our homeschooling blog too!
ReplyDeleteYay! So happy to have you on board! I'm excited to see what books you read throughout the year and what you think of them. It's going to be a fantastic year! Sorry for taking so long to get around to everyone, but I'm making it...slowly but surely. :o)
